Holly Holm vs Ketlen Vieira expected to headline UFC Vegas card in May
Holm (33-2-3) had a run of bad luck in 2021. After winning both of her bouts in 2020, “The Preachers Daughter” had important matchups with top-10 fighters Norma Dumont and Julianna Pena fall through before fight night last year. Costing the 40-year-old former bantamweight champion more than a year of activity at a point in her career when she can least afford it.
Despite her inactivity, Holm is still ranked second in the UFC’s women’s 135-pound rankings and seventh on the women’s pound-for-pound list.
Vieira (12-2) split her two fights last year. She opened 2021 with a February unanimous decision loss to Yana Kunitskaya. She followed that setback up in a November unanimous decision victory, in her first main event slot, over former division queen Miesha Tate. The win lifted her up to fifth in the division rankings.
